About Servant Leadership
As Ms. Manzione huddled the conferees into the Hudson Hall to participate in a miniature game show, no one could have predicted the true nature of the event. We were introduced to an amazing woman, Dr. Martha MacGuffie and her inspiring story of perseverance and dedication to society. Hearts were touched...souls were lifted...and great minds had been stimulated to push ourselves further to aid in our communities and beyond. Dr. MacGuffie was the first woman to graduate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Her inspiring life accomplishments do not end here however, as she had been tested with devastating events in her life. Instead of letting it drive her down, she had used any sorrow to help drive her to raise a world with a little more sunshine shining down upon us all. Dr. MacGuffie had co-founded a non-profit organization, "SHARE," to provide education and social services to children orphaned by AIDS in Western Kenya. Ms. Manzione had met Dr. MacGuffie in the later years of her life, forever altering both of their lives. Her lasting impression does not end here, however, as "S.H.A.R.E." continues to aid the less fortunate in Kenya, and her story will continue to change more lives.
